The probe of the capital market by the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee will resume on April 10.
The date was announced on Thursday by the new committee set up to carry out the probe after the committee originally saddled with the responsibility, headed by Hon. Herman Hembe, resigned as a result of bribery allegations.
The Secretary General of the Security and Exchange Commission, Arunma Oteh, had levelled a N40 million bribery allegation against the committee after she was accused of excessive spending on hotel accommodation and feeding.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is already looking into the allegations.
Chairman of the ad-hoc Committee, Hon. Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, said the April 10 date was arrived at to provide ample time for people to send memoranda that would be used during the probe.
El-Sudi said his comittee was gathering fresh materials for the probe, adding: “We are starting de novo as announced by the speaker on the day the ad-hoc committee was set up. We will be fair and firm.
“We are here fresh in blood and mind, seeking to reverse the myriad of problems seeking to destroy our economy through the Capital Market.
“Based on the fresh mandate, this committee has resolved to carry out an independent inquest into the issues and urge all stakeholders to give us maximum cooperation.”
