The police in Kano said on Wednesday that necessary measures had been taken to forestall attack at viewing centres during the ongoing World Cup soccer championship in Brazil.
ASP Magaji Majia, the Police Command’s spokesman, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano that various meetings were held with the centres operators.
Majia said: “We held meetings with the operators and discussed security tips on avoiding infiltration by undesirable elements that may cause havoc to the people.
“Our men have also been deployed to the areas around such centres on a search and rescue operation.
“We gave out emergency telephone numbers to be called in case of any issue.”
Majia gave the telephone numbers as 08032419754, 08075391163 and 08123821575.
A viewing centre in Damaturu was on Tuesday attacked while the Adamawa State Government banned such centres from operating in view of recent attack in Mubi.
