Plymouth Argyle could turn to Hibernian defender Efe Ambrose as they seek a replacement for departing centre half Sonny Bradley.
Bradley announced on his Twitter account his intention to reject the Pilgrims’ offer of a new contract and fine a new club for the forthcoming season.
It is a big blow for Argyle to lose the dominant 26-year-old former Hull, Portsmouth and Crawley stopper, who has been such an integral part of Derek Adams’ squad over the past two years.
The 29-year-old Nigerian international joined Hibernian last summer from Scottish rivals Celtic, and he went on to make 45 appearances for the Easter Road club this season, scoring three goals.
One of those appearances came in a 5-5 draw with Rangers on the last day of the season which was watched by the Argyle boss, who headed north of the border to scout some potential targets after the completion of Plymouth’s League One campaign.
Ambrose was not named in Nigeria’s World Cup squad and he has a year remaining on his contract with the Hibees.
It remains to be seen if Argyle will be willing to meet Hibernian’s demands for the imposing stopper.
