The Plateau State Government through the Tourism Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kankerizo Park Limited, Abuja for the rehabilitation, upgrading and repositioning of Pankshin Hotel as part of efforts to boost the tourism sector in the the state.
The Plateau State Commissioner for Tourism and Hospitality, Hon. Mwankom Peyer John, signed the MOU on behalf of the state government, while Genard Daminet signed on behalf of the investor.
The state government has invited other investors to identity one or two areas of concerns they would want to intervene, saying the current Private Public Partnership option would be strengthened to ensure improvement of the state’s economy.
John commended the management of Kankerizo Park Limited for accepting to partner with the state government to reinvigorate the Tourism Corporation by upgrading the state’s infrastructures.
He said the state government desires to lease some of its infrastructure to private owners who would develop them, stressing that the signing of the MOU is the beginning of good things to come.
John charged the development partners to cooperate with the government by ensuring that the job meets specifications.
Daminet said with the MOU, they are poised to develop and rehabilitate Pankshin Hotels to a tourism haven.
It is expected that with the signing of MOU, the state will receive a boost in the tourism sector and will create employment for the youths in the state.
