The 2015 edition of Oodua Festival, an annual cultural festival, has kicked off.
The week long annual cultural event officially kicked off on Sunday with a world press conference in Ikeja, Lagos State.
Otunba Gani Adams, the convener of the Olokun Festival Foundation, while addressing the media, reeled out the activities to mark the 2015 edition of the programme.
According to the Oodua Peoples Congress president, the Day 2 of the festival will continue with Festival Float in Ile-Ife, Osun State on Monday.
It will then be followed by the Yoruba Quiz Competition on Tuesday.
Ayo Olopon, a traditional Yoruba game, will come up on Monday before the Festival lecture holds on Tuesday.
To add fun and razzmatazz to the event, a beauty pageant competition, Miss Oodua 2015, will also takes place before the grand finale climax the week long event on Thursday in Osun State.
Otunba Adams further hinted that Oodua Festival had in the last few years been a curtain raiser to their long list of activities within the year.
He said: “This year will not be an exemption apart from the fact that it is an important festival.
“It is occupying a great position in the calendar of the activities of the Olokun Foundation.
“We will continue to strive and develop the festival to international acceptance and recognition.”
Eminent Nigerians expected at the festival include the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; and the Ooni Of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuade.
