Nyako moves to inaugurate number three judge as CJ

The Adamawa State Governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako, The Eagle Online has learnt, has concluded arrangements to inaugurate the number three man in the state’s judiciary, Justice Nathan Musa, as the state’s Chief Judge.
The inauguration of Musa, allegedly fixed for Monday (December 31, 2012), is coming after a failed attempt by Nyako to have his wife, Justice Binta Nyako, approved for the position of the state’s CJ by the National Judicial Council.
It will be a procedural anomaly as pointed out by the NJC in the case of Justice Binta Nyako, because Justice Musa has seniors in the judiciary, including the the most senior judge in the state, Justice L. Lawi.
It was learnt that there is also the second ranking judge, Justice Bobbo Umar.
Justice Umar acted for six months as CJ but was not presented for confirmation by Nyako.
It was gathered that Nyako settled for Justice Musa in order to manipulate the judiciary to save his political career.
Nyako is reported to be desperate to reverse the outcomes of the congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state so far as his choice candidates failed woefully.
The congresses, which are still in progress, it was learnt, is to be stopped by Nyako through judicial intervention.
The governor had initially wanted to use the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, to stop the congresses.
Tukur, however, refused the overtures, ordering that the congresses should proceed as scheduled.
It was gathered that Nyako’s deal with Justice Musa is for him to put a halt to the congresses immediately he is inaugurated on Monday.
However, Nyako still requires the ratification of the NJC for the confirmation of Justice Musa.
