Hamza Abara acknowledged Niger Tornadoes trip to Rivers United on Sunday is “crucial” in their bid to avoid relegation from the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Earlier in the week, there was a major shakeup in the administration of the club.
The Niger State Government under the leadership of Abubakar Sani Bello dissolved the club’s management committee through the state ministry of sports, paving the way for Engr. Ibrahim Dada to emerge as the new sole administrator to run the affairs of the club.
Niger Tornadoes are nine points in the drop zone with nine games to play before the season end.
With Enyimba, Bendel Insurance, Katsina United and Remo Stars to play after this match, the Ikon Allah Boys desperately need a win to potentially breathe new life into their survival bid.
“This is a crucial match,” said Abara. “I said many times, every match for us is like a final, and we have to play with this in our minds. Every ball is important. I am confident in my players.
“I hope we do something good to achieve a good result.
“We are in a situation now again where we perhaps don’t play beautifully but play for the results and I think we have to come back in this shape.
“We want to put some stress on the opponent and surprise them with what we are doing and that has been our focus in the last two days.”
The Minna-based team are at the bottom of the log with another an opportunity to leapfrog to safety zone.
They played a goalless draw with Rangers Internationals at home in their previous match.
