Kano Pillars Football Club on Sunday forced hosts Sunshine Stars FC of Akure to a goalless draw in a week eight match of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League.
The match played at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure saw Kano Pillars’ midfielder, Nzube Anaezemba, hitting the woodwork in the 30th minute.
Sunshine Stars had many goal scoring chances begging for conversion in the game, but none really threatened Kano Pillars’ goalkeeper David Obiozor.
In the second half, Sunshine Stars’ Dayo Ojo had a fierce shot saved by Obiozor to keep the scores level.
Sikiru Alimi almost broke the deadlock in the dying minutes of the encounter, only for his effort to go agonisingly wide.
In a post-match interview with newsmen, the Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars, Ibrahim Musa, said he was happy with the result his team got.
He said he had however wished that his team got all the three points at stake to improve their standings on the league’s log.
Musa said: “I am happy with the point we got and the officiating of the match was alright.”
Abe Sunday, the skipper of Sunshine Stars FC, on his part said his team would go back to the drawing board to improve the team’s performance in their next home match.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Sunshine Stars will face MFM FC of Lagos at home in the week nine of the NPFL.
