Non-payment of salaries: APC are bad managers of resources – PDP

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has decried the inability of some states in the South West region to pay the salaries of public servants regularly as a testimony of the poor management style of the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement by its Acting State Publicity Secretary, Joseph Adaraniwon, in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, the PDP accused the APC of being poor managers of resources.

The party further wondered why the APC-controlled states of Osun, Ogun, Lagos, Oyo and others were finding it difficult to promptly pay workers’ salaries in spite of the huge resources accruing to them from various sources.

The PDP congratulated the people of Ekiti State for being saved the agony of APC’s misrule with the emergence of Ayo Fayose as the governor of the state in governorship election held last June.

Adaraniwon said: “Only few days ago, workers in Ogun State embarked on warning strike to protest the non-payment of their dues. This is despite the huge resources the state makes from internally-generated revenue.

“The same is the case in Osun State where workers are protesting the non-payment of five-month salary. In Oyo State, some pensioners nearly died while protesting the non-payment of their pensions.

“Lagos State, which generates more than N40 billion as IGR monthly, is still finding it difficult to pay workers, doctors in the employ of the state are protesting the non-payment of their dues. Medical services in Lagos are threatened now.

“The above-listed states are APC-controlled and the same fate would have befallen Ekiti if not for the emergence of Dr Ayo Fayose as the governor. If the APC were to be at the helms of affairs in Ekiti now, workers would have been owed five-month salary.

“The APC has nothing to offer the people of the state and the people of Nigeria at large, we appeal to the people to reject the APC in the coming polls and know that the APC has nothing to offer them.”
