NOA presents patriotism advocacy concert

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mike Omeri, has advocated the need for Nigerians to love and protect the country’s integrity.
Omeri made this call in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Saturday evening while presenting a patriotism advocacy concert to counsel Nigerians on the need to live in peace with one another and take the country above every interest.
The concert, tagged: “Do the right thing, fall in love with Nigeria,” is an advocacy project packaged by the NOA, introduced three years ago, to bring together Nigerians to express great feelings they have for the love of Nigeria.
Omeri disclosed that the programme was billed for Valentine’s Day but postponed due to the botched general election that was fixed for February 14.
He said the choice of Jos was to commemorate the long standing history of peaceful co-existence the state enjoyed.
He said: “It is unfortunate there had been a sudden outbreak of hostility in the town, leaving many dead due to the evil minds of unpatriotic citizens.
“It is our firm belief that we are stronger together if we love and protect Nigeria.
“And by doing this, we need to satisfy our character and demonstrate our love for the country.
“All countries have moment of grief and tragedy, but need to stand together to overcome the challenges, so we can do also that.”
The state Director of the NOA, Bulus Dabit, expressed joy for the consideration of Jos to host the programme.
Dabit said the partnership with the agency and various artistes will go a long way in promoting peace in the country and the state.
He said the programme was apt.
He said it will encourage Nigerians to love and be loyal to Nigeria.
