Nigeria international, Akeem Latifu, is currently plying his trade in Norway with Aalesund, but his contract expires in December and he has yet to agree a new deal.
The news has alerted a number of clubs across Europe to Latifu’s possible availability on a free transfer in January.
Latifu has impressed for Aalesund and he has been an ever-present for the club in the Tippeligaen this season.
The attacking right-back is thought to be attracting interest from clubs in Spain, Germany and Turkey, but Latifu admits his preference would be to win a move to the Premier League in England.
“I would be very happy to play in England and it is a dream for most players to play in the Premier League,” Latifu stated.
“It has been one of my dreams to come to England and I hope that can happen.
“I have heard some clubs in Germany, Spain and Turkey are interested in signing me and we will see what happens.
“I am soon to be a free agent when my contract at Aalesund expires and my aim is to play in a bigger league to enhance my chances with the Nigerian national team.
“I have a few friends who play in England and I think my style of football would be suited for England.
“I want to continue to work hard and hopefully I will achieve my dreams.
“I have an EU passport so I would be able to move to England if the opportunity comes.
“I grew up watching Chelsea when I was younger with so many African players and that inspired me to try and move to England.”
The performances of Branislav Ivanovic this season have suggested that Chelsea could do with bolstering their options at right-back, but Latifu may have to set his sights a little lower for now.
His ambition is to be commended, though, and he must now wait and see whether a dream offer arrives from England in early 2016.
