For displaying incompetence in the discharge of their judicial functions, Niger State Judiciary Commission headed by the Chief Judge, Honourable Justice Fati Lami Abubakar has dismissed two Sharia court Judges.
This was contained in a press release made available to the Eagle Online on Thursday by the Commission Secretary, Mrs Zainab T. Gana, after a meeting held on 8th September,2014 that adopted the recommendation of the 5-man committee set up to investigate petition and complaint against the two Judges.
According to the statement, the two judges are Hon. Mohammed Isah Doko of Sharia court Kateregi and Hon. Aminu Balarabe of the Sharia court Zungeru respectively.
That Mohammed Doko was dismissed following the findings by the commission on the allegations contained in the petition against him that he ordered for execution of judgment the very day the judgement was delivered on the 7th April, 2014 and he did not applied Islamic Rules of procedure to arrived at the decision as well evidence of corrupt tendences as he made certain deductions from the proceeds of the auction in respect of the judgement.
Meanwhile, Aminu Balarabe of Sharia court Zungeru was also dismissed from office sequel to findings on allegation of unlawful seizure and wrongful exercise of judicial power.
Accordingly, Niger state Judiciary Service Commission has in the exercise of its disciplinary powers under the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, dismissed the two Sharia court Judges from office with immediate effect.
