The Niger State Government has said that it will continue to collaborate with the media for the execution of programmes and projects that will improve the lot of the people at the grass root.
The Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Umar Nasko, who made this known during a meeting with media practitioners attached to the Government House, Minna on Monday, also promised that the administration will pursue the implementation of policies and programmes that will improve the lot of practising journalists in the state.
Nasko said that the administration has done a lot in the area of delivery of dividends of democracy to the people and will need the media to project this appropriately to the Nigerian public.
He said: “We are in the last lap of the administration.
“We need to let the public know what we have been doing more than before.
“So we will require the support of the media in the state and outside.”
Nasko said with the appointment of media practitioners as Chief Press Secretary, Director General of Public Affairs and Commissioner for Information is an assurance that the government is more than ready to work with the media to achieve its goals.
Also in his remarks, the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Danladi Ndayebo, appreciated the cooperation he received from journalists in the state when he held sway as the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and asked that such support should be extended to his successor, Israel Ebije.
Ndayabo, who also performed the handing over of his former office to Ebije, said the Ministry will continue to liaise with the media in decision making process.
The Director General of Public Affairs, Alhaji Tanko Dada; and former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, now Special Adviser, Alhaji Jibrin Sulaiman, accompanied the Chief of Staff on the visit.
