Players and officials of female U-17 team, Flamingoes, have been decamped by the Nigeria Football Federation following the conclusion of the World Cup qualifying series.
Head Coach, Peter Dedevbo, says he intends starting his World Cup camping as soon as he submits his programme to the Technical Department of NFF.
He told the girls that only players who are fit would get a recall to the camp.
“Football is a game of the moment, as such players who remain fit on current form when the camp re-opens will be eligible to be called up,” Dedevbo said.
Speaking further, he said “playing in the qualifiers does not guarantee your recall to camp as we prepare for the world cup. Every player must merit her call.”
Flamingoes did a double against Zambia by beating them 5-0 in Abeokuta, and 2-1 a fortnight ago in Lusaka.
The team, along two other African countries, will represent the continent at the next FIFA U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan later this year.
