The Plateau State chapter of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria has cautioned the Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo, against joining in the fray in the war ravaging the sports industry.
Thadeus Yilmen, the state Chairman of SWAN, in a statement said as concerned stakeholders in sports development in the country, “we have been following with interest what has been ongoing in the Glass House, however we feel as a body we need to speak out
“We call on the Minister of Sports Tammy Danagogo to be an unbiased umpire, especially going by recent developments.
“There should be a level playing ground for all participants in the election and all concerned sports lovers to play the game according to the rules.”
SWAN said recent developments in the football family will be a setback to sports in Nigeria, especially considering the gains made on the local and international scenes.
The statement added: “It is clear that those who want to manage do not have the passion and interest of football and for Nigerian football to move forward. There is the need for the two factions of the NFF to come together, to avoid incurring FIFA’s wrath.”
