National Convention: APC will come out stronger – Chieftain

The All Progressive Congress will come out of its National Convention on Saturday stronger and bolstered to further deliver dividends of democracy, Mallam Lanre Issa-onilu, a party chieftain, has said.
He told News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja that contrary to insinuations its detractors, the convention would make the party more united and provide a “very solid’’ National Working Committee and National Executive Committee.
“The government will continue to make progress and Nigeria will continue to make progress,” Issa-onilu, who is contesting for the office of National Publicity Secretary at the convention, said.
He described the conflicts in the party as ‘ingredients of politics’ and not national crisis as viewed in some quarters.
Issa-onilu said that APC had intra-party conflict resolution mechanism, which would address grievances that may arise from the convention.
He pointed out that unlike other political parties; there had been no factional leader or factional national office of APC in spite of the differences among its members.
According to him, the APC is now a brand and no politician will want to walk away from a party that is making progress and has what it takes to win elections.
The stalwart said that the APC was completely different from other political parties and had demonstrated it in the last three years.
He stated that the party had brought dividends of democracy to people at the grassroots across the country.
He said that the Second Niger Bridge, Ajaokuta Steel Company and the Mambila Plateau, which had been abandoned for over 40 years, were currently being revitalized.
