Delegates representing National Association of Nigerian Students at the ongoing National Conference have urged members of dreaded Boko Haram sect to channel their grievances to relevant committee of the Conference.
The NANS representatives also condemned in totality and described as “barbaric” the abduction of Government Secondary School girls in Chibok, Borno State by the Boko Haram group.
In a statement signed by one of the delegates, Comrade Clifford Abur, NANS called on Nigerians to join hands in taking part to secure lives and property through the neighbourhood watch.
NANS also advocated for the establishment of vigilante clubs in all Nigerian Universities and other schools to report issues on security to appropriate agencies.
The statement said: “We commend the effort of the international community and the federal government for their concerns so far, an indication that the world is reducing to an actual global village where symbolic approach to human relationship is becoming more prominent, hence, we seek more of global partnership to end the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.
“We thank President Goodluck Jonathan for his tireless effort in trying to see that the security challenges be brought to an end most especially, his commitment to ensuring that the abducted Chibok girls are brought back alive. We also thank people all over the world that have participated in the ongoing protest tagged ‘bring back our girls’.”
