The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, Dr. Paul Orhii, alongside other prominent sons and daughters of Ushongu of Benue State have been honoured for their outstanding performances in their field of callings.
Also honoured were Hon. Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), Hon. Terver Orduen, Peter Mbatimin and late Elder Iorhen Adem.
In his welcome address, the President of the Ushongo Development Association, Jos chapter, Zeremon Akaa, said they have arrived at the choices of the awardees due to their exceptional success in their national assignments.
Akaa said it was a way of encouraging them to greater heights.
He encouraged other sister associations to unite and for the progress of Tivland.
The Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Tor Iorapuu, expressed joy over the formation of the association, stressing that it is only when groups comes together, like the Ushongo community, that they can salvage the current security challenges in the country.
Iorapuu said the security challenge has displaced a lot of people from their ancestral homes.
He expressed fear that owing to the violent attacks, many Nigerians may be disenfranchised during the 2015 elections.
He said cogent steps must be taken to arrest the trend.
