A three-day awareness and confidence building campaign for Muslim and Christian youths has kicked off in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
Declaring the campaign open, the Coordinator and Senior Programmes Officer of the Centre for Peace Advancement Office in Nigeria, Plateau State, Cornelius Shija, sued for peaceful co-existence among diverse ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.
Shija said a lot needed to be done in the area of insecurity in Plateau State and its environ so as to create love, unity and understanding for the youths who are potential leaders of tomorrow so they may become instruments of God.
He stressed further: “If all Christians will behave like Jesus and the Muslims will emulate Prophet Muhammad’s teaching, the world would be a peaceful place for all of us.
“We have to make it work.
“We must create a culture of peace and peaceful co-existence in this world.
“We must imbibe the spirit of togetherness.”
Shija said the programme is meant for five communities.
It will discuss how the youth will themselves to improve on the security of their communities.
He added that the Centre for Peace Advancement of Nigeria has just commenced the programme, which is considered a pilot project and the first step was to extend it to 15 communities or more within Plateau State.
