The office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapher, has confirmed the report of The Eagle Online that the CJN has served notice of his retirement.
The retirement takes effect in July.
But Musdapher is proceeding on a three-month pre-retirement vacation, beginning any time from now.
The source, who sought for anonymity, said an official statement is to be issued on the matter before the close of work today.
The source confirmed that the next most senior judge in the supreme Court, Justice Mariam Aloma, was recommended by his boss to take over as the CJN.
