The Season 8 of Africa’s most productive musical reality show, MTN Project Fame, is set to hit the airwaves as auditions for the show began on Saturday.
The audition kicked-off in Abuja and Port Harcourt simultaneously, before it will move on to Ibadan and end up in Lagos in July.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that within seven years, the musical talent reality show has been the most productive, especially to participants who made it to stardom.
A participant, who was on the ground for audition, Benjamine Olikiabo, told NAN that the MTN Project Fame remains the best platform in West Africa where raw talents can be showcased and put into use.
Olikiabo said: “I came for auditioning last year, I was not successful.
“I believe this year I will make it because I am prepared to win.
“I commend the organisers of this project for the effort to develop our music industry in Africa as a whole.
“It remains the best in the discovery of talents and bringing out unknown artistes.”
Another contestant, who was at the auditioning, Juno Cyril, expressed satisfaction with the arrangements put in place by the organisers.
Cyril said: “The presence of past contestants and winners such as Adetoun and Omolayo will help to inspire some of us that have not participated in the project before.
“I have confidence in them that good judgment will be done.”
One of the organisers, Onome Udebuani, said this season the entire West Africa sub-region will have the opportunity to see all the stars perform in the most thrilling concerts that are expected to inspire other aspiring talents.
NAN reports that hundreds of youth trooped out to the audition for the reality show.
