Delegates at the ongoing National Conference were amazed over a solo protest staged by Delegate, Alhaji Buba Galadima, who is a member of the National Conference Committee on Devolution of Powers, on the abduction of over 200 girls from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State by members of the dreaded Islamist sect, Boko Haram.
Galadima, who walked out while the committee was in a stormy session over the derivation principle, carried a placard with the inscription: “#Bring Back Our Daughters: President Jonathan, Stop Shifting the Blame, The Bulk Stops On Your Desk.”
The former National Secretary of the Defunct Congress for Progressive Change, who could not draw media attention when he left committee room, went in search of journalists to capture his solo protest.
Galadima has been a staunch critic of President Goodluck Jonathan and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, over what he has consistently described as their misrule of the country since 1999.
He was quoted in some national dailies as labeling the President as a tribal jingoist just as he accused him of sitting and administering the disintegration of the country.
“President Jonathan is sitting and superintending the disintegration of Nigeria when he was voted for as president by Nigerians to lead them,” he had said.
The politician, who was not given attention by media men during his 10-minute action, even after attempting to draw journalists covering some committees’ sittings out, returned to rejoin members of his committee after walking round the Studies Department of the National Judicial Institute, venue of the his committee’s meeting.
