Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, is doubtful for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League tie against Maribor as the Nigerian is yet to recover from a knee injury.
Mikel missed last weekend’s English Premier League game against Queens Park Rangers due to the injury.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will be eyeing another comprehensive victory when they visit Ljudski Vrt Stadium to take on Maribor.
Eden Hazard starred a fortnight ago as the Blues steamrolled past the Slovenians at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are at the summit of Group G with seven points in three games so another victory for them, coupled with a result for Schalke against Sporting Lisbon, will see the Blues qualify for the knockout stages with two games to spare.
They already proved their might against Group G minnows in the 6-0 triumph two weeks ago but Chelsea will be concerned by their heavy workload and the effects of fatigue as they near the end of a congested fixture list.
This will be Chelsea’s fourth game in a five-match fixture list that is packed inside two weeks.
In the 10 days building up to this game, Chelsea drew at Manchester United, recorded 2-1 victories over Shrewsbury and Queens Park Rangers in the League One Cup and Premier League respectively.
After this visit to Slovenia the Blues will only have three days to prepare for their trip to Anfield for a big clash with Liverpool on Saturday. Jose Mourinho hinted at fatigue as one of the reasons his side battled to a 2-1 victory at home against QPR last Saturday.
