The in-coming Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, has just arrived the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Informed sources told us he will be meeting with the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, any minute from now.
Abubakar, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 12, Bauchi, has been nominated to replace the IGP, Hafiz Ringim.
Ringim, who is due for retirement next month, has turned in his resignation letter.
This was based on the option given to him by Jonathan for his failure to check the activities of the Boko Haram sect.
The sect last Friday killed 186 persons in Kano, according to police records.
Also yesterday in the city, another 20 persons were reported killed by the sect.
A leader of the sect in the town, Uzairu Abba Abdullahi , a 2002 Bayero University Mass Communication graduate, and his pregnant wife, were killed by security men during a shootout at about midnight yesterday.
In Bauchi on Sunday, the sect also killed 11 persons.
