The Flying Eagles’ handler, Manu Garba, has assured Nigerians that the team will consolidate on its victory over Senegal in their subsequent games at the ongoing African Youth Championship in Senegal.
Garba stated this shortly after the Flying Eagles 3-1 win over Senegal on Sunday.
According to him, the team’s target is to qualify and representing the continent as champions at the U20 World Cup in New Zealand later in the year.
He said: “The first game is always vital in every competition. Now, that we have won, I think we can build on that and move on in the competition.
“I’m very happy to have won this game because this is a Senegal team that we didn’t know anything about.”
On the other hand, the Junior Lions coach, Marie Joseph Francois Koto, believes all hopes are not lost for his team as they would prepare better for their next games in order to qualify from the group.
