A 45-year-old Man, Olayinka Oladimeji, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State over alleged stealing of a vehicle valued at N6.5 million.
Oladimeji, who lives at Sagamu road ,Ikorodu, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining a property under false pretence and stealing before the court.
The prosecutor, Insp Fola Takunbe, told the court that Oladimeji committed the offence on Jan.12, at 10 .00 a.m when the owner released her truck to him on the basis of trust.
According to the prosecutor, the accused collected the truck from the owner, saying that he would pay the price by instalment, but disappeared.
He also said that the 16-tyre truck with registration number XS 690 JJJ belongs to one Mrs Atolagbe Omolewa.
Takunbe said the offence contravened Section 312,sub- section 1(a) sub- section 3 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties that must be blood relations, and with evidence of tax payment.
The Magistrate, Mrs S.A.Odusanya, adjourned the case to July 22, for mention.
