The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, on Monday visited some roads under construction for firsthand assessment of traffic situation in the areas.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that areas visited by Owohunwa included Apongbon, Ebute-Ero, Ijora Olopa and Marina.
The police boss also met with the construction companies’ workers handling the roads to ascertain the traffic situations, crimes and challenges being faced at the operational sites.

Owohunwa was accompanied by the Divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders of the areas visited.
He told the workers that residents of the areas had been calling him to complain of the heavy traffic situation caused by the ongoing road constructions.
He, however, assured the workers of adequate security.
Owohunwa, who ordered a review of ways to ease the traffic, urged the DPOs to be on ground to check hoodlums activities in their areas.
The police boss, however, was not happy with the activities of commercial motorcyclists at Ebute-Ero with some of them riding against traffic.
He ordered the Ebute-Ero DPO to enforce a 24-hour ban of motorcycles in the area.
Owohunwa appealed to Lagos residents to be patient with the ongoing road constructions.
He noted that more officers had been drafted to control traffic in many parts of the state.
