The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Elder Peter Kisira, has called on the Federal Government to address the perennial power outage and bad road network in the country.
Kisira made the call on Saturday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, when he received the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Alhaji Mustapha Baba Shauri, in his office.
The Deputy Governor explained that the fixing of the problems would effectually boost the economy of the people and the Nation.
He noted that most Nigerians depend on power to survive in their businesses, calling on the Federal Government to attach great importance to it.
Elder Kisira also called on the Federal Government to repair the deplorable road network linking the State with other neighboring States as the gateway between the Northern and the Southern parts of the Nation.
The Deputy Governor, who appreciated the Federal Government’s proactive housing programme, stated that the State Government would continue to meet the housing desire of the people.
He enumerated the achievements of the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration, especially in the areas of education, health and housing.
Shauri said he was in the State as part of tour of the North Central zone to inspect ongoing national housing project, which was one of the campaign promises of President Muhammadu Buhari to provide affordable housing for Nigerians.
Mustapha explained that each zone in the country has specific housing design using 100 per cent locally made materials to create employment opportunity for Nigerians and stimulate the economy.
The Minister stated that the Federal Government would build more houses to provide shelter for the people and also address the housing shortage through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria that would give waiver to potential house owners.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, commended the Minister for his timely visit, calling on the Federal Government to pay attention to the road network in the State.
