Katsina budgets N113.6b for 2014

Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State on Wednesday presented an Appropriation Bill of N113.6 billion for 2014 to the House of Assembly.
Shema, who presented the budget estimates in Katsina, said the total expected revenue was N112.9 billion, with a surplus of N609 million.
Tagged: “Budget of Social Responsibility,” Shema said N32.4 billion, representing 71. 45 per cent, was earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N81.1 billion, representing 28.55 per cent, was set aside for capital expenditure.
He said the budget would focus on the delivery of social services through the education, infrastructure, health services, and agriculture, among others.
The governor urged the people to continue to support the administration’s policies in its efforts to move the state forward.
Shema urged the House to expedite action and pass the budget in good time to enable the government provide more dividends of democracy.
The Speaker, Hon. Ya’u Gwajo-Gwajo, assured the governor of speedy passage of the budget for the development of the state.
Gwajo-Gwajo said the House would continue to join hands with the executive arm to provide more dividends of democracy to the people.
