John Obi Mikel’s agent, John Ola Shittu, has admitted there is interest in his client amid speculation that Italian giants Inter are preparing a bid.
Mikel has been linked with quitting Stamford Bridge when the transfer window swings open and there is likely to be no shortage of suitors looking to snap him up.
Addressing the situation of his client, John Shittu said: “Inter? What I can tell you is that I’ve met with my client and the leaders, there is interest in him.
“He is a great player, he’s won the Champions League and the African Cup of Nations, so he is up to standard for the Nerazzurri.
“Inter is a hypothesis.
“For now, Mikel is a Chelsea player.”
The 27-year-old midfielder has been at Chelsea for approaching eight years, having landed at the club in July 2006.
This season he has made 23 appearances for the Blues in the Premier League, but 13 have come from the bench.
