Injured Flying Eagles’ striker, Obinna Nwobodo, has departed the country’s shores to visit a specialist hospital in Doha, Qatar.
The trip was at the expense of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Nwobodo, who travelled out of Abuja on Wednesday aboard an Emirates Airline flight to connect to Doha in Dubai on Thursday morning, will spend a minimum of six weeks at the Asepetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, Doha undergoing treatment for anterior cruciate ligament tear.
The energetic forward was injured in the second half of the final match of the 2015 African Youth Championship, in which Nigeria piped hosts Senegal 1-0 in Dakar on March 22.
The injury forced the player to miss the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where the Flying Eagles were eliminated by Germany in the Round of 16.
