Re-elected President of Ibadan Recreation Club, Otunba Gboyega Fisher, has promised to assist the country in grooming budding talents among the nation’s teeming youths.
Fisher stated shortly after the inauguration of the Club’s new executive body that he was interested in the development of sporting talents for Nigeria.
He said: “I understand that some budding talents do come to the club for training.
“I will help them to realise their potentials.
“Even though, the club is originally meant for members to recreate, we will collaborate with Oyo State Government to develop sporting talents that abound everywhere in the state.”
The club president, who promised to perform better than he did during the first term of office, said the presence of the state Commissioner for Sports, Yomi Oke, will enhance the collaboration.
“We shall collaborate with Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, a sports enthusiast, to help in developing sports in the state in particular and Nigeria in general,” he said.
Promising to adhere strictly to the constitution and philosophy of the club, Fisher vowed to serve the club and members diligently.
Among the members of the new executive body are Busayo Taiwo, Vice Chairman; Jacob Somoye, General Secretary; Olalere Samuel, Publicity Secretary; and Abiodun Adetuyi, Treasurer.
Established in 1902, the club is segmented into Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Dart, Billiard and Snooker Aerobics and Swimming Sections.
