A governorship aspirant in Kwara, Malam Saliu Mustapha, has pledged that he will protect the commonwealth of the people of Kwara if elected as governor in 2019.
Mustapha, who is contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, made this known on Saturday in Ilorin while speaking with journalists.
The aspirant lamented the dilapidated state of infrastructure in the state, adding that all sectors were facing critical challenges.
He said: “If am satisfied with the level of development in Kwara, I will not be putting myself forward to serve the people.
“What is on the ground today is not good enough for our people and that is why some of us have come out of the passion to serve our people better.
“We want a change to a better environment that is what we mean by change in APC. It is not about changing things from good to worse, no, it is from worse to good.
“We intend to give our people a better system of governance, a system that will serve our people better not to rule them. That is the change we mean in APC.”
The aspirant promised to be accountable to the people if elected, adding that emphasis would be on improved condition of living.
Mustapha said: “For me, first and foremost, accountability to the people matters a lot; once you can account for whatever you’re doing then, you will definitely be able to provide a better environment for them.
“A better infrastructure, better education, better security and better welfare for the people that is the whole essence of accountability.
“My take after the primary is for the APC to win, whoever wins is a collective victory for all of us.”
