Onyeka, who is said to have a digital master key, according to detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Yaba, Lagos State, who arrested him, got the key from Port-Novo in Benin Republic.
He gave his core operational areas as Festac, Ikeja and Surulere areas of Lagos State and that 1998 and 2000 models were the target as the digital key works on them perfectly.
Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, said Onyeka invested N170,000 in the purchase of the key.
Braide said he steals an average of two cars per day.
Onyeka, who was recently deported from Thailand, is from Imo State.
He said: “The master key has a sensor, which usually alerts me to know a car that has a security device.
“But I can operate and steal any Camry car, except those that have factory fitted security device.
“Such factory fitted cars are usually from overseas.
“I took to the crime because I was planning to raise money and go back to any Asian country.”
