Dr. Abubakar Garba El-Kanemi, the national Amirul Hajj for 2013 Hajj operation, has stressed the importance of peace and stability in national development.
In an interview in Muna, Saudi Arabia, the Shehu of Borno said the focus of this year’s Hajj was on peace.
He said the council of Islamic scholars (the Ulama) have been directed to make peace and unity their talking point in this year’s Hajj exercise.
He said: “I told the Ulamas to make their talking point on peace and unity for the stability of our country.
“Let me tell you, nothing is possible without peace and unity in a country.
“We need it in abundance in Nigeria.”
El-Kanemi said all hands must be on the deck to ensure peace, unity and stabIlity in the country geared towards rapid development.
The monarch, who also doubles as the Deputy President General of Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, also thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for his support.
El-Kanemi also expressed his appreciation to Vice President Namadi Sambo and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, for their support.
The Shehu of Borno, however, hailed the conduct of Nigeria pilgrims to this year’s Hajj for being good ambassadors of the country.
He urged them to maintain such orderly manner and not do anything capable of tarnishing the image of the country.
Speaking in the same vein, Alhaji Muhammed Bello, the Chairman of NatIonal Hajj Commission of Nigeria, thanked Allah for a hitch-free Hajj exercise.
Bello assured Nigerians and the entire pilgrims that the Commission would do all its best to take care of the welfare of the pilgrims.
A total of 76,000 Nigerians were in Saudi Arabia for 2013 hajj exercise.
