The authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given new directives relating to the visit to Jamarat by pilgrims for symbolic stone throwing.
The measure by the authority is to prevent heat stress among pilgrims amidst prevalent high temperatures.
Saudi’s Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Abdulfattah bin Sulaiman Mashat, gave the directive, adding that the measure is to ensure the well-being of pilgrims.
Following the measure, pilgrims have been prohibited from proceeding to the Jamarat Bridge for the ritual of throwing stones from 11am to 4pm.
The Minister said security personnel will be stationed at camps to enforce this restriction and prevent any pilgrim from departing before 4pm.

Mashat added that the Office of Hajj Affairs and service providers are tasked with ensuring compliance, and they will bear responsibility for any violations thereof.
He prayed for Allah’s protection over the pilgrims and the acceptance of their Hajj.
Meanwhile, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria said its National Medical Committee and Ulamas have collaborated for health education and promotion to pilgrims during the remaining days of the Hajj operation.
NAHCON source said following directives by Prof. Abubakar A. Yagawal, the Commissioner in charge of Planning, Research, Information, Statistics and Library Services; Dr. Saidu Ahmed Dumbulwa, Board member representing the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, launched a joint public health talks at Mashaer for pilgrims.
Prof. Kabiru Sabitu and notable Sheikhs Abdullahi Bala Lau and Nasir Adam were part of the exercise.
The exercise is scheduled to continue till the end of 2024 hajj operations.
