Governor Nyesom Wike on Wednesday confirmed the postponement of the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party.
So also did Wike confirm the initial report by the Eagle Online that the tenure of the National Caretaker Committee of the party has been extended.
The Committee, led by Senator Ahmed Makarfi, is to remain in office for additional one year.
Wike announced this developments officially on Wednesday after the police prevented the party from holding its National Convention.
The convention is now rescheduled for next year.
Wike said this is to enable the party fully reconcile.
He announced the development at the Rivers State Secretariat of the PDP after the police prevented the scheduled convention from holding.
