Heads of administrations of secondary schools in Nigeria have been called upon to step up efforts to raise the standard of education to global competitiveness.
The Plateau State Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Bakon Lalong, made this call on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the National Executive Council meeting of the All Confederation of Principals Secondary Schools holding in Jos, the state capital.
Lalong, who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Sonny Tyoden, said teachers and school administrators have the responsibility to move their various schools a greater heights by been creative.
The governor noted that as a government, his administration is desirous to put education on the front bunner and as such has set aside a chunk in the 2016 budget to revive the dwindling educational sector in the state.
He said: “We have marshalled out a new agenda on education, which will target the massive upgrading of facilities at the three tiers of education.
“We will also be laying emphasis at the educational development of the mind through our value re-orientation campaign so that the quality of education will have essential combination of character and learning.”
Addressing the delegates, the Plateau State President of the All Confederation of Principals Secondary Schools, Zebedee Zitta, commended the state government for steps taken so far to address the challenges confronting education sector in the state.
