Dr. Amina, the wife of the Niger State Governor, Alhaji Sani Bello, has called on relevant stakeholders in the state to do everything possible to meet up with the deadline for the success and smooth running of the neonatal hospital in Minna.
Dr. Bello made the appeal on Sunday when she visited the hospital.
She described the progress of work on the project so far as above average.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, has called on Nigerians to support the efforts to reduce maternal mortality.
The royal father, while promising his support when the White Ribbon Alliance paid him a courtesy visit at his palace, said the State Government has intensified effort in the employment of more medical personnel for better health service delivery.
Bahago commended Dr. Bello for introducing and distributing “Mama Kit” to women in the State, assuring his visitors that he will support the activities of the Alliance.
Also, the National Coordinator, White Ribbon Alliance, Nigeria, Tonte Ibraye, commended Governor Bello for strengthening about 200 healthcare facilities and creating 70 new ones.
Ibraye, however, lamented that 28 per cent of pregnant women in the state do not have access to good health facilities.
A visiting Neonatal, Prof. H.O. Amadi. advised the medical board to fix oxygen pipes and get rid of transparent wires and cables against work hazards.
The neonatal hospital will be taken over from the Ministry of Health and be managed under the Hospitals Management Board.
