In a swift reaction to social network dishing out fallacious information about a SURE-P loan disbursement; the Governor of Niger state Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has distanced himself from a fake facebook account.
Governor Aliyu whose reaction is contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Israel Ebije said those who created the fake account have conceived plans to deceive Nigerians with the aim of extorting money and to drag his name and the position of his administration to ridicule.
According to him “the public is hereby advised to discountenance postings claiming SURE-P is disbursing loans. It is not the reflection of my thoughts or that of the SURE-P. All the information contained in the fake account is a reflection of the criminal intention of those behind it.“
Aliyu expressing concern over the development stated that It is disheartening that at a time when he is focused on consolidating on the gains of the administration some people have constituted themselves as public menace to distract the attention of the government from its goal.
He warned that a telephone number, 07089251685 has been listed on the fake account purportedly to be that of the SURE-P Director General, Hassan Nuhu adding that it is fake and belongs to person or group of persons managing the facebook account.
He called on those who have submitted good reasoning on the platter of dark minded activities repugnant to sane thinking to desist adding that they should develop fertile and productive mind for better errands than mischief.
He therefore noted that ‘this is not the first time fake facebook accounts would be identified’, cautioning the general public of politically induced blackmail agenda. He however insists that whatever political gain those involved hope to achieve have failed.
