Turkish giants, Galatasaray, has offered a whoping sum of £16 million to lure Nigerian International, John Obi Mikel, away from Chelsea of England ahead of the new season.
With Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, keen on conducting a major Stamford Bridge squad shake-up, it would appear very likely that one, two or more of the Blues first team could be on their way out and offers for players he feels he can afford to lose could well be gladly accepted, the funds then being used as a handy transfer fund injection.
The Daily Mail claim that Galatasaray are ready to offer the £16 million for the Nigerian, a deal that would reunite the midfielder with former teammate, Didier Drogba.
Though it was Mourinho who signed Mikel in 2006, the source who spoke with Daily Mail, believes that the returning Chelsea boss will consider offers for the tough tackler, perhaps with a view to replacing the former Lyn Oslo man with either Micheal Essien, who spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, or an entirely new signing.
Mikel appears to believe an exit from the West London club is a possibility, stating recently: “I have a four-year contract with Chelsea, but you know, in football you can never guess, one day you are here, the next day you might leave.”
