A trucker belonging to the Lagos State Waste Management Agency and a pickup van were involved in an auto crash on Saturday, leaving four persons injured, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The accident, which occurred along Ile Zik inward Oshodi, Ikeja, was confirmed by the Director General, Lagos State Emergency Management, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
NAN reports that the LAWMA compactor truck had been recovered by the LASEMA Response Team.
While the accident did not result to loss of life, several people were, however, injured.
NAN gathered that four critically injured persons were taken to Lagos State Teaching Hospital for treatment.
An eyewitness account revealed that the LAWMA Compactor truck was driving against traffic from Ile Zik, while the pickup van, which was heading-in from Oshodi, rammed into it.
Oke-Osanyintolu said: “The LASEMA Response Team (LRT) was at the scene, following a distress call through its Toll Free 767/112 Emergency numbers.
“The team discovered an accident between a LAWMA truck with an unknown registration and a pickup van also with unknown registration fully loaded with Charcoal.
“Four people, including the the driver of the pickup van was said to have sustained different degree of injuries and were taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH for treatment.”
Oke-Osanyintolu added that the Lagos Rapid Response Squad of the Nigeria Police and LRT were early responders at the scene.
LASEMA’s heavy duty equipment, Super Metro, was deployed for recovery of the truck and van.
Both the LAWMA accident compactor truck and the pickup van were recovered off the road, placed on a lay by and further handed over to the police officers at MAN Police Station, Wemabod Estate, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja.
