A 34-year-old woman, Patience Reveth, will spend one year in prison for beating her neighbour, Helen Tunde, with cane and bathing her with pepper.
An Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin, Edo State, presided over by RachaeI Ogbevoen, convicted Reveth on Wednesday after finding her guilty, but gave her an option of N25,000 as fine.
Prosecutor Patrick Agbonifo had told the court that offence was committed on November, 2014 at first East Circular Road in Benin.
Agbonifo said the convict assaulted Tunde of the same address by beating her with a cane and bathing her with pepper, which caused her bruises on her hand and neck.
He said the offence contravened Section 355 of Criminal Code.
