Nigeria’s Women’s U-17 team, the Flamingoes, on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, crushed their Zambian opposite, the She-Polopolo, 5-1 to secure a place in the World Cup taking place in Azerbaijan later in the year.
With the 5-1 win, the Flamingoes qualified with a 7-1 aggregate, having won the first leg in Lusaka 2-0.
The match was played at the MKO Abiola Stadium.
It was dominated by the Nigerian girls in every department of the game.
Nigeria was at the first two editions of the Under-17 World Cup.
The first was in New Zealand in 2008 and the second in Trinidad and Tobago in 2010.
Nigeria’s neighbour, Ghana, has also qualified for the World Cup in Azerbaijan.
The girls from Ghana defeated South Africa.
