The Federal Government has approved the construction of eight dams in Nasarawa State to boost agriculture in the area.
Ovey Angbazo, Managing Director, Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority disclosed this on Wednesday at the inauguration of the Graduate Farmers Empowerment Scheme in Doma, Nasarawa State.
He said the dams would be situated in Keana, Giza, Azara, Nasarawa, Keffi, Nasarawa Eggon, Kwandere and Katanga communities.
Angbazo pointed out that the LBRBDA would embark on the rehabilitation of small rural roads and rural electrification projects and upgrade existing ones.
In his remark, Governor Umaru Al-Makura, urged the Federal Government to revitalise and complete the Doma and Tede Dams which was abandoned over two decades ago.
Al-Makura said that the Tede Dam in Akwanga Local Government was conceptualized as a multi-purpose dam to provide portable water, irrigation and generate electricity.
