FEC meeting not holding

The weekly Federal Executive Council meeting is not holding as announced by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
The meeting, which usually holds at 10am on Wednesdays inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja, it was learnt, has been called off.
A source in the Presidency told The Eagle Online that no reason was given for the cancellation of the meeting.
Jonathan had on Monday at the inauguration of two new ministers, said they would be assigned their portfolios on Wednesday before the FEC meeting.
Jonathan is, however, away on official duties to Egypt, the United Kingdom and France.
Ordinarily, when the President is away on official duties, the Vice President, Architect Namadi Sambo, presides over the FEC meeting.
But as at press time at 11am, there has been no word to the ministers on the reason for the cancellation of the meeting.
A source told The Eagle Online that the imminent cabinet reshuffle could be the reason for the postponement of the meeting.
The source said that Sambo could be shying away from announcing the switch of portfolios of the ministers.
It was learnt that the reshuffle could be the first major announcement Jonathan would make on his return to the country on Monday.
It was also learnt that the President travelled with some of the FEC members on Tuesday night.
All the ministers left behind were also said to have been at the country’s centenary celebration until very late on Tuesday.
