The police in Lagos have brought a 31-year-old employee, Daniel Iyamah, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing N107, 303 from a micro financial services provider.
The defendant, who was arraigned before the Magistrate, Ademola Adesanya, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Simeon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 7.
He alleged that Iyamah stole the sum from his employer, Success Digest Growth Initiative, a non governmental organisation providing microfinance and empowerment services to retail business owners.
According to him, the defendant was apprehended following investigations.
Stealing contravenes the provision of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until Jan. 24, 2022, for mention.
