Alhaji Muhammadu Bako II, the Emir of Karshi and a first class traditional ruler in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, is dead.
His son, Alhaji Zubairu Mohammed, confirmed the death of the 76-year-old emir to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Karshi.
Zubairu said the late monarch died in the early hours of Tuesday in his palace after a brief illness.
He said: “Our emir, the promoter of peace and culture, died this morning after a brief illness.
“His death is heart breaking and painful but God gives life and takes it at will.”
Zubairu noted that the late emir contributed immensely to the development of Karshi Kingdom, the state and Nigeria during his life time.
According to him, the late emir was a humble monarch with exemplary character, who ruled the Karshi Kingdom for 34 years.
NAN reports that the monarch was buried at 1pm on Tuesday according to Islamic rites.
The late emir was survived by three wives and 31 children.
