Elections: Collation yet to begin as INEC await results from LGAs in Bayelsa

The Independent National Electoral Commission says it has yet to begin collation of results of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly’s elections from some local government areas in Bayelsa due to the peculiar terrain of the state.
Wilfred Ifogah, Head of Department, INEC Voter Education and Publicity, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the commission was also conducting a supplementary poll in 39 units in Ogbia and Sagbama Local Government Areas.
Ifogah said that voting in the supplementary elections commenced at 12 noon and would end at 6 p.m.
He said: “Yes, some results have started coming in but you know the terrain and even as I am talking, election is ongoing in some wards and units in different local governments.
“The elections in those areas were rescheduled due to Smart Card Reader malfunctioning and mix up in some units.
“A total of 39 polling units were affected in Sagbama and Ogbia LGAs. Voting is ongoing today, Feb. 24, and it will stop at 6 p.m.”
