Ekweremadu honours EFCC invitation, still being grilled since 10am

The Deputy Senate President, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu, has honoured the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The EFCC had Tuesday last week stormed the residence of Ekweremadu in Abuja with operatives of the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police, inviting him for questioning by 8am on the same day.
However, Ekweremadu, who did not attend the Senate plenary on the same day, did not honour the invitation.
But on Tuesday, Ekweremadu honoured the invitation of the EFCC.
He was invited over allegations bothering on abuse of office and money laundering.
But the Deputy President of the Senate over the weekend said the whole plot was to remove him from office alongside the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
He said since he had been holding public office, he has never handled cash or got involved in the award of contracts.
As at press time, Ekweremadu was yet to be released by his interrogators.
